What Users are Saying:

"The new GoLive PayPal extension is easy to use, intuitive and integrates smoothly with PayPal."

"Wow - what an improvement to my workflow. The old way involved having to go to PayPal, create the button code, then copy and paste the code into a BBEdit version of my website, where I'd previously made a marker in GoLive for the button. Now, I just drag the button directly into the GoLive Layout view. When you do a lot of PayPal sites and integrate a bunch of PayPal stores, this is a God send!"

Components:

The PayPal extension consists of 4 new objects which are added to the Objects palette after the extension has been installed. Below is a screenshot of the PayPal Objects palette as it appears after you install the extension.

The palette objects are:

China Cell Phone Rental Buy Now
When you drag a Buy Now object onto the page, a wizard appears that allows you to create a payment button for your product or service. Once you complete the wizard, GoLive inserts a PayPal button that visitors can click to pay you with any major credit card (you can also define a custom button of your own creation). When visitors click your button, they will be taken to the PayPal Web site where they can then enter payment information which will be credited to your PayPal Business or Premium account. Here's a sample of Buy Now button you can create, choose from several styles or create your own. You can also add a "Donate" button so people can donate to your site or cause via PayPal. Click the button below to see how a buyer would be transferred to PayPal's site to complete a typical transaction (do not enter your information after clicking the button, this is an example only):

Add to Cart
When you drag an Add to Cart object onto the page, a wizard appears that allows you to create an Add to Cart button. The Add to Cart button allows visitors to add products or services on your site to their personal shopping cart (you can also define a custom button of your own creation). By creating a different button for each product or service on your site, customers can add multiple items to their carts which are kept track of on the PayPal Web site. Customers can also pay for items via credit card once they are ready to checkout. Click the button below to see how a buyer would be transferred to PayPal's site to add your item or service to the shopping cart (do not enter your information after clicking the button, this is an example only):

View Cart
When you drag a View Cart object onto the page, a wizard appears that allows you to create a View Cart button. The View Cart Button works in conjunction with the Add to Cart button and allows visitors to view the contents of their shopping carts without having to add a new item. Click the button below to see how a buyer would be transferred to PayPal's site to view their shopping cart contents (do not enter your information after clicking the button, this is an example only):

Subscription
When you drag a Subscription object onto the page, a wizard appears that allows you to add a recurring payment button to your website (you can also define a custom button of your own creation). Recurring payments can be used to set up an ongoing charge or payment plan for customers -- for example, a monthly or quarterly fee or rental instead of a one time charge. You can also optionally set up a free or paid trial period, and also charge a setup fee to initiate the subscription. Sample button below (you can click the button but do not complete the transaction - for sample purposes only):

PayPal Account Information:
Paypal setup is free, and there are no monthly fees. You pay only a small transaction fee when a purchase occurs, as low as 2.2% + $.30 per transaction (check PayPal site for current fee schedule). PayPal provides increased protection for online merchants via its built-in fraud prevention system. PayPal standard services include instant availability of funds, a scalable and proven payments platform, 24/7 customer service via email, and extended business hour telephone customer service. Do you need to sell downloadable digital goods though a secure download link using PayPal? We use and recommend PayLoadz.com.

Installation:

1. Mac/PC: After downloading the PayPal.zip file from the download site, unstuff the .zip file and move the resulting PayPal 4 (or PayPal 2) folder into your Golive Application/Modules/Extend Scripts folder.

2. Quit and relaunch GoLive. Look for the PayPal logo in your Objects palette and click it to display the PayPal Toolkit objects. If the PayPal objects do not appear, make sure you have placed the PayPal folder in the correct GoLive folder (Golive Application/Modules/Extend Scripts) and also that you have quit and relaunched GoLive if it was already running.

Using the Extension:

1. Decide which object to use and drag it onto your page from the Objects palette. Follow the instructions in the wizard to set the appropriate parameters for your product or service. You must include your PayPal Business account info in the form of the email address you use as your PayPal ID. This info must be entered on the first screen of each wizard. Note: you cannot use single or double quotation marks in any of the Wizard's form fields as this will break the script (eg, 10" Pizza won't work, but 10 Inch Pizza will).

If you do not yet have a PayPal Business/Premier account, you can sign up for free here. You will need to have a Business account in order for PayPal to deposit money into your account when people pay you.

2. Once a button has been completed, you can edit it again by selecting the button in Layout View and clicking the "Edit" button in the Inspector palette. This relaunches the wizard and allows you to make any necessary changes.

Testing:

We recommended that you create a live test account for your sale items prior to posting your items for sale publicly. This requires you to have both a personal account and a business account with PayPal (PayPal allows you one of each account). To test your buttons, simply use your personal account to purchase the item from your business account, then once the transaction goes through, log into your business account and use the "refund" feature to refund the actual payment.
